Switzerland National Team Players Transfer Update

The new season is just around the corner. In Spain, it's already underway, while in England and Italy, it's set to kick off next week. Many Swiss players will be seen in new clubs. Here's an overview.

After the World Cup in America, many Swiss national team players are facing a club transfer. WM-Shootingstar Johan Manzambi is switching to England for 70 million euros - the most expensive transfer from the squad. While Cedric Itten is joining Werder Bremen on a free transfer, the future of Ricardo Rodriguez remains unclear.

Aurèle Amenda

It may come as a surprise, but Aurèle Amenda's transfer is one of the most expensive from the Swiss squad. Although the young defender didn't see any action at the World Cup, he's switching from Frankfurt's Bundesliga team to the Premier League for 18 million euros. The 23-year-old will make his debut for Coventry City next weekend and will try to prove himself with his physical strength in the toughest league in the world.

Johan Manzambi

Even more impressive than Amenda is the leap of Johan Manzambi (20). For an incredible 70 million euros (including bonuses), the WM-Shootingstar has also switched to England like Amenda. Manzambi will likely not be fit for the start of the season due to knee problems.

Eray Cömert

Also, Eray Cömert (28) has found a new home after the World Cup, where he only played one game against Argentina. The defender is leaving Valencia after a total of 55 games and is switching to Turin in the Serie A. The 28-year-old is signing with an Italian club for the first time. For Cömert, it's already his next international experience after stations in Switzerland, France, and Spain.

Djibril Sow

In Italy, Nati-player Cömert meets Djibril Sow. The 29-year-old, reliable, and versatile midfielder is leaving Sevilla after three years and is switching to Genoa in the Serie A.

Cedric Itten

At Nati-Ergänzungsspieler Cedric Itten (29), everything went quickly. Even during the World Cup, it was announced that the 29-year-old would leave Fortuna Düsseldorf and join Werder Bremen. The striker is joining on a free transfer, after scoring 15 goals for the German second-division team in the previous season.

Nico Elvedi

Nico Elvedi (29) will likely take a big step after an outstanding World Cup and more than a decade at Borussia Mönchengladbach. Leeds United is reportedly intensively pursuing the Swiss player. According to Sky, the 29-year-old has already agreed on a contract with the Premier League club until 2029. However, there is still no agreement between the clubs. Gladbach is reportedly demanding around 10 million euros for Elvedi's departure.

Remo Freuler

Also, Remo Freuler is facing a new adventure. The 34-year-old Nati-stammspieler has left Bologna after two years, with his contract expiring at the end of June. Now, it's reportedly going to be Greece for the Swiss player: Olympiakos Piräus is strongly interested in Freuler, with the transfer expected to be free.
