Swiss internationals delivered strong performances for their clubs across Europe over the past week. Striker Johan Manzambi stood out with two goals in two different competitions for Aston Villa.

The forward opened the scoring in his side's 6-0 Champions League rout of Fenerbahçe on Wednesday. Just three days later, he was on target again in the Premier League, netting the decisive goal in a 0-1 away win at Newcastle United. Manzambi was substituted after around 70 minutes in both matches.

Further Swiss Action

Alongside Manzambi, other key national team players were in action. Goalkeeper Gregor Kobel played the full 90 minutes in both of Borussia Dortmund's matches. He conceded in a 0-1 Champions League loss to Bodo/Glimt but kept a clean sheet in a 0-0 Bundesliga draw with Union Berlin. Michel Aebischer played the full match for Union.

In England, other Swiss players featured. Nico Elvedi played the full match for Leeds United in their 1-1 draw with Manchester United. Dan Ndoye started for Nottingham Forest before being substituted in the 73rd minute in a 0-1 loss to Arsenal. In the Bundesliga, Cedric Itten came off the bench for Werder Bremen in their 2-2 draw with SC Paderborn. In the Europa League, Zachary Athekame helped Lyon to a 3-2 win over Crystal Palace.

The consistent club form of the players is a positive sign ahead of the national team's upcoming commitments. Switzerland's next fixture is an away match against Slovenia on November 13th.
