The Switzerland national team has climbed two places to 12th in the latest FIFA World Ranking. This move sees the Swiss overtake Germany, who dropped to 13th, and marks Switzerland's highest position since 2022.

The rise is a direct result of a strong autumn campaign in the UEFA Nations League. Under head coach Murat Yakin, the team won all four of its matches in League B Group B, amassing twelve points. This winning streak is reflected in the team's recent form, which reads four wins and one loss from the last five outings (WWWWL).

Parmelin praises the team

Swiss President Guy Parmelin offered his full support to the squad following the latest victory. "Bundespräsident Parmelin spricht der Schweizer Nati die volle Unterstützung zu," he said. The team leads its Nations League group comfortably, putting it in prime position for promotion to League A.

Germany slips back

While Switzerland ascends, the German national team is struggling under new coach Jürgen Klopp. The team has won only one of its first four matches under his tenure, explaining its fall in the rankings. Spain remains unchallenged at the top of the world ranking, ahead of Argentina and France. Portugal also improved by two places to rank 5th, Austria sits in 22nd and Turkey is 31st.

For the Swiss side, 12th place represents a significant improvement from its July ranking of 19th. A spokesperson noted, "Für die Schweiz bedeutet Platz zwölf gleichzeitig die beste Klassierung seit mehreren Jahren." The team has consolidated its position in the global hierarchy and looks ahead with confidence. The Nati travels to Ljubljana on November 13 for the return match against Slovenia.
