Switzerland have announced their squad for the upcoming UEFA Nations League matches in September and October. Manager Murat Yakin has selected a 25-man group for the three fixtures in Group E against Scotland, Slovenia, and North Macedonia.

New faces include 20-year-old Sion striker Winsley Boteli and 20-year-old Parma defender Sascha Britschgi. "Switzerland manager Murat Yakin also included 20-year-old Parma defender Sascha Britschgi in his 25-man Nations League squad," said Yakin. Both could make their international debuts during this window.

Experienced backbone is provided by record appearance holder Granit Xhaka. The 34-year-old Sunderland midfielder joins the squad with 152 caps. Granit Xhaka arrives from his amazing World Cup performance to enhance his national record of 152 appearances. Breel Embolo is also back in the fold following his transfer to MLS side Atlanta United. The forward was mistakenly sent off in the World Cup quarter-final against Argentina.

The Swiss begin their Nations League campaign with an away match against Scotland on September 29. They then host two games at the Swissporarena in Lucerne: North Macedonia on October 6 and Slovenia three days later. The team heads into the matches with confidence, having won four of their last five outings. Current form is also strong in World Cup qualifying, where Switzerland sit top of their group with seven points and a goal difference of +4 after three games. The top scorer so far is Johan Manzambi with three goals in four appearances.

In goal, Yakin will rely on Marvin Keller, Gregor Kobel, and Yvon Mvogo. The defence is led by Manuel Akanji, Ricardo Rodriguez, and Nico Elvedi, supported by young talents like Zachary Athekame, who is on loan from AC Milan to Lyon. The midfield options alongside Xhaka include Denis Zakaria, Remo Freuler, and Fabian Rieder. The attack features Embolo and Boteli alongside Zeki Amdouni, Cedric Itten, and Dan Ndoye.

Preparation for the opening match in Scotland begins this week. The Swiss aim to build on their lead in the World Cup qualifying group with positive Nations League results.
